BIO
Rabbi Adam Stein, referred to by his first name "Rabbi Adam", is the Chabad Rabbi servicing Stony Brook University, Long Island, New York.
He grew up in the suburbs of Boston, attended University of Massachusetts at Amherst, spent a semester abroad at Tel Aviv University and graduated in 1991 with a B.A. in Political Science and Judaic Studies.
After college, he became fluent in Hebrew while attending the Talmudic Academies of Ohr Some'ach & Toras Emes in Jerusalem, Ohr Yaakov in Zichron Ya'akov, and Tomchei Temimim in Kfar Chabad.
While in Kfar Chabad, Rabbi Adam was taught by Rabbi Zalman Gopin and was personally mentored by Rabbi Meir Gruzman, students of the esteemed Rabbi Shlomo Chaim Kesselman. It was there, in Kfar Chabad, did Rabbi Adam learn how to do "his'bonenus", a Chabad meditational practice that forms the basis of this webinar's "guided mental imagery."
In 1997 he attended the Central Lubavitcher Yeshiva at World Lubavitch Headquarters "770" in Brooklyn, New York, got married in 1998, attended Kolel Menachem for advanced Rabbinic studies and became an ordained rabbi in 1999.
With the goal to teach Chabad-Kabbalah inspiration to all, in 1999 Rabbi Adam and his wife relocated to Stony Brook University, Long Island, New York in order to open a "Chabad House" Jewish Student Center.
For the last 20 years, Rabbi Adam has been teaching and inspiring the students on campus. His book & webinar, "Living in the Moment - Living a Life Devoid of Stress, Worry & Anxiety" was born from these classes to students.
In May 2015, after applying for the position of Director of Self-Management Workshops in alternative approaches to Mindfulness, Rabbi Adam founded the Center for Mental-imagery Based Stress Management (MiBSM) and joined the American Mindfulness Research Association as a Practice Professional.
